Purpose

  • To find potential hazards, understand the problem and establish corrective measures for the prevention of aviation accidents and the assurance of safety
  • A system that allows a person to openly report any safety-related issues that are not serious by keeping the identity of the reporter confidential

History of Changes to KAIRS

  • 01

    Expansion of the scope of reporting

    (Revision of the Enforcement Regulations of the Aviation Act, on July 3, 2004)

    Reporting the items : The number of items have increased from 18 to 31

  • 02

    Newly established confidential reporting system

    (Revision of the Aviation Act on November 8, 2005 and revision of the Enforcement Regulations of the Aviation Act on August 18, 2006)

    Change of Name : Korea Confidential Aviation Incident Reporting System → Korea Aviation Hindrance Reporting System

    Reporting of Items : The number of items have decreased from 31 to 9

  • 03

    Changed to the Korea Aviation Voluntary Incident Reporting System

    (Revision of the Aviation Act on June 9, 2009 and Revision of the Enforcement Regulations of the Aviation Act on September 10, 2009)

    Change of Name : Korea Aviation Hindrance Reporting System → Korea Aviation Voluntary Incident Reporting System (Article 49-4 of the Aviation Act)
